-- Background Story --
The story of Edgar the Ritualist begins in a humbled village, deep within a nameless forest, long since forgotten with time. When he was born, an omen from the gods ravage through the sky: a tornado of unprecedented scope descended upon the small community. When the morning came and the wind settled, huddling together inside their houses, the villagers received an unexpected boon: a pile of book, taller than any trees in the surrounding forest and wider than the village square. Still astonished by the wealth of knowledge literally dumped on their feet, they are visited by a strange artificer. He explained that the storm of knowledge was the mark of Ioun, god of knowledge and the Primal Spirit working in tandem as mark of the duality of this place: part civilization and part nature. Thus begins their reverence for both gods.
Growing up as a scholar, foretold by the circumstances of his birth, Edgar has always found life in that ideallic village a dull existence to grow up in. He fill part of it by working as an apprentice to the local wiseman, who is rumored to have been blessed with both primal and arcane powers. However, even that wasn't enough to fulfilled his wish to understand the delicate balance between nature and man. Thus begins his rebellious act in running away from it when he was 18, just a few weeks after his admittance into the local druid circle. At first, he found work in a nearby military outpost tending to their food garden and meat stock. Though he quickly grew used to the hard work required, he secretly despise the expansionist mindset of those who live in the border, thinking them shallow and greedy. However, destiny called when a call for recruits to the EPIN military college came to the outpost. Believing that it is a chance to change things from between, he signed up the next day.
Edgar has been working for the Engineering department for 2 years, accumulating knowledge on the shaping and creation of items (hence his knowledge of the rituals).
Now, as a soldier of EPIN, he would have the means to one day access the powers necessary to create his idealized version of paradise.
And so our story begins...
Background Effect: Occupation: Scholar (+2 Arcana)
[glow=red,2,300]Story:[/glow]
Lost within the ancient lores, the secrets of the rituals are waiting to be found.
Each day, my journey brings myself closer to attaining them, through both civilization and the wilderness.
I have sworn myself to be Ioun's eyes and ears in exchange for knowledge far and wide.
I have also sworn onto the Primal Beast my aids and worship in exchange for a fraction of its forms and powers.
I have learned under a sage of immense knowledge.
I would learned to call on guardians of nature and spirits of the Wyld for favor.
I seeks knowledge as well as balance.
Will you aid me on my quest?
Edgar is mischievous and ambitious (though he would claim that is synonymous with being self-motivated). He doesn't deny that he is somewhat lax in his duty for nature's causes. However, he is greatly disturbed by the casual destruction and desecration of nature by his fellow men. Because of that, he vows to find a way to help them co-exist peacefully with nature... or else.
[glow=red,2,300]Appearance:[/glow]
Edgar usually wears an odd assortment of items, the most frequent of his is an oversized-scarf that also doubles as a shirt (that somehow also counts as hide armor - and insulate electricity)
In combat, he is in constant flux between his humanoid shape and his beast form: a mixture of praying mantis, bumblebee and a lion's head (don't ask).
[glow=red,2,300]Persona:[/glow]
Edgar has a special bond with mantises, believing them to be that utmost greatest form from the myriads of guises of the Primal Spirit. He is cowardly but not afraid to make his stance known, easily excited but sometime contemplative and for some (ironic) reason, very coy by the appearance of "aesthetically pleasing" automatons.
