u still can shift 2. ur build just sucks. It says "Can". Not "Must" a predator with intellect. right... it's not even a swarm druid built. and ur reason for intel is so u can have rituals... fine~ then dun complain about combat ineffectiveness

Also i modified the weapon path selection for u
This is the final build. It's the most defensive capability as a controller u can get
Power Daily: Mantis Swarm "A swarm of mantis obscures the way hindering enemy's movement and aim" Standard and Movement Action; Personal; Effect: Standard Action: The staff now has an Aura 1 granting cover to self and all allies thru the cover of the flying mantis swarm (this standard action must be spent to gain this ability) Movement Action: Anyone in the Aura may shift through difficult terrain as if they are normal terrain. (this movement action must be spent to gain this ability) Sustain A: Standard; Effect is now Aura 2 Sustain B: Minor; Effect is now Aura 1; if Sustain A is activated: Aura range increases to Aura 3 Sustain C: Movement; Allies may now make a free shift when they start their turn in the Aura; If Sustain A and Sustain B is activated: Allies and yourself have "Superior Cover" as the swarm concentrates better to provide cover; If neither Sustain A nor Sustain B is activated: Effect is now Aura 1 Special: You may engage multiple Sustains. At least one sustain must be enabled to maintain this power

Edgar's new pet:
(based on pseudodragon stat, changed into a minion)
Stinger Mutated Dragonling Level 3 Lurker Minion Tiny natural beast (reptile) Initiative +9 (If Edgar is also rolling initiative, it uses his initiatives even if it's lower) Senses: Perception +8 HP 1 (a missed attack never damage a minion) AC 17; Fortitude 14, Reflex 15, Will 14 Speed 4, fly 8 (hover); see also flyby attack
Bite (standard; at-will) +8 vs. AC; 1d8 + 4 damage.
Sting (standard; recharge ⚃ ⚄ ⚅ ) ✦Poison +8 vs. AC; 1d8 + 4 damage, and ongoing 5 poison damage (save ends).
Flyby Attack (standard; at-will) Stinger flies up to 8 squares and makes one melee basic attack at any point during that movement. Stinger doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks when moving away from the target of the attack.
Invisibility (standard; recharges when an attack miss Stinger) ✦ Illusion As long as Stinger doesn’t attack, it is invisible. (Note: Stinger automatically enters this mode when Edgar uses him as part of "Animal Messenger" ritual. It whispers the message to the recipient without turning visible. It stays invisible until it gets back to Edgar)
Alignment: Unaligned Languages: It understands but doesn't speak Common. (Except as part of Animal Messenger ritual) Skills Insight +8, Stealth +10 Str 6 (-1) Dex 18 (+5) Wis 15 (+3) Con 16 (+4) Int 13 (+2) Cha 17 (+4) (Note: Str and Int value swapped)
Note: Edgar found Stinger when he was hunting for cockroaches in the waste disposal area (don't ask). The entire area entered lockdown when he was still in it, trapping him inside. He found Stinger sitting on top of a pile of garbage from the laboratory. Finding kinship with the rejected specimen, Edgar formed a bond with it (after much stinging and biting). Now it follows him as a snapping and yawning invisible presence (which he claims to be an invisible air elemental). That concludes Edgar's night out.
Personality: Stinger despises mankind as a whole due to its brief but terrifying experience with the men in the white coat. He also finds this particular specimen unsavory and utterly unattractive. He only follows the creature since it at least makes an effort not to kill him. Plus it also brings him food. He would prefers it more if it would take more baths and flosses more.
Behaviour: Stinger is complacent and avoids making contacts with other creatures. At the start of combat, Stinger flies above the combatants and watches the fighting ensues invisibly. It might flies in to distract a ranged attacker if Edgar is in mortal danger (enters 0 hp) if it likes him enough.

pet stats revoked.
Animal Messenger pet = an inconsequential animal. i.e. Parrots, rats. etc. It does not partake in combat.
And what lab? You're being sent to a Depot Yard. Not a lab zone. It's grubby in the frontlines.
Refer to email and read in 100% clarity.
Also, Dragons do not exist in Terrun, (what the public thinks)
Unless you've gone to the north and south poles, forget about "dragons"

So if if I change its type to just mutated creature, will it fly? Also, in the note it already says it doesn't participate in combat, just maybe flies in and buzz in the face of the attacker if I'm knocked down and in danger of dying (subject to DM's decision). If it will help, maybe I'll just remove the flyby attack and the sting (and rename the bite attack the sting to fit with the name) so to remove it's effectiveness as a combatant.

"psuedodragon" by definition means 'not a dragon' hurrrr Mutated Dragonling Level 3 Lurker Minion Tiny natural beast (reptile) 0.0 And as i said. You are not getting a beast companion. Ask for more and u dun even have a simple rat to use as an animal messenger.

ok. Then just a tiny mantis? (to complete the mantis theme) No unit or anything, just a novelty pet. For novelty's sake you can have it bite me when I'm annoying you. Sounds good? ps: About the background, is there any places you would suggest I can find it in?

Is there any stat I need to input or should I just worry about rewriting the background story?

Ok, just changed Edgar to fill in with his level up to lv 4. I'm going to start to roleplay a bit to fill in the gap between him and other fellows in xp since I'm going to have to miss some more sessions in the future. Wish me luck guys.
