Summon Giant Mantis Druid Attack 1 "Children, come to my aid! YES! Power, INCONTINENT!!!" Daily. Implement, Primal, Summoning Standard Action Ranged 5
Effect: You summon a Medium giant mantis in an unoc- cupied square within range. The mantis has speed 5 and fly 2, and it gains a +10 bonus to Athletics checks to jump. You can give the mantis the following special com- mand. On the turn you summon the mantis, you give that command as part of using this power.
Standard Action: Melee 3; targets one creature; Wisdom vs. Reflex; 1 d8 + Wisdom modifier damage, and the target is pulled 1 squares. Instinctive Effect: If you haven't given the mantis any commands by the end of your turn, it attacks the same creature that it attacked during your previous turn. If it can't do that, it attacks an enemy within 3 squares of it if it can. Otherwise, it moves its speed to a square within 3 squares of the nearest enemy.

terrun.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aar&action=display&thread=59&page=1OOohhHHH. Nice Roleplay. Would have written something too for my daily if my right hand doesn't hurt so much from sketching my druid. The half-finished version is sent to my group by mail. Hopefully I'll finish it by next week. And then I'll write a roleplay section for the mantis. And then there's my alternative beast form to draw. And maybe a group photo and Arghghhh... HOMEWORK!!!

Standard Action: Melee 2; targets one creature; Wisdom +2 vs. Reflex; 1d8 + Wisdom modifier damage, and slide the target 1 square.
Instinctive Effect: If you haven't given the mantis any commands by the end of your turn, it attacks the same creature that it attacked during your previous turn. If it can't do that, it moves and attacks an enemy it can see within 5 squares of it if it can. Otherwise, it moves its speed to a square within 2 squares of the nearest creature. It must take opportunity attacks where possible with Threatening Reach 2 on any creature except the castor.
DM edit: Edited for player incapacity for semantics.

Actually, druid summons don't have OAs, that's why we have to sic Fire Hawk (or Fire Seed, or ... OK, most of druid's powers) to stop them from moving away. Which kinda makes threatening reach pointless, unless you count that for the purpose of determining Fire Hawk secondary attack, which kind of makes sense actually, since the enemy can't just shift out of it.
(EDIT) Wait, it has threatening reach 2 but it doesn't have reach for its standard attack? Is that even legal?

Technically the entire 'Summon Giant Mantis' power isn't "Legal", so hush up and take what you can lol

So it's basically a shock trooper, sent up there to die. I dont' think it's going to AO us too much cuz we're a ranged team. Just tell me to summon this baby at the start of a fight that you think we'll have a hard time at, ok? Does the threatening reach effect Fire Hawk?
EDIT: Can I copy the DM's post to my character post for easy reference?

I think his question was, if creatures within range 2 of the thing MOVE and thus trigger a reach OA. would it then trigger firehawk aswell. I don't see why not

So I orbital drop a giant mantis on top of the enemy leader/controller/blaster... squabble, punt them with a firehawk/twisting tide (preferably through an AP, Action Surge, biatch!) and laugh as they have to decide between using their oh-so-disruptive powers and soak up pain (from both OA of the minion and Fire Hawk or Twisting Tide's SA, my OA and the mantis' OA are seperate, right?) or stand there like a punching bag. Yessssssss...

*shiver* Did I say something wrong mechanically? Or is the DM gonna bombard us with stuffs that either melee or has skills to avoid OAs? OR EVEN WORSE!!! Stalker minions, the nightmare of every controllers *.*...
Go ahead though, even if you're going to crush it within 5 rounds of the encounter, he's still cool enough to keep around.
I'm going to name him Chopchopshagnasty. Maybe even draw a me in beast form using Swarming Locusts and posing with him by my side. (You can even use it for ur own Swarm Druid!)
One question though, once I have access to higher level Daily powers, can I "retrain" to "level up" the bug? (adding abilities so he won't become obsolete)
I feel like a Beastmaster hunter ranger already!
