Geography (Nature Class Skill)
Story:
Some years ago, a boy traveled with his nomadic family through the few untouched forests of Cabus, journeying through this foliage to hunt and explore. Though human, the boy was quick to adapt to his life, learning to ways of the forest, hunting his own game and making his own trails.
The boy was more burly than the lot in his family. He was neither quick nor keen with a hunting rifle, but in a melee fight with his brothers or prey, he would always emerge on top. His family recognized this, and trained him to be a fighter. Though they be rangers, the boy's family managed to impart to him the two-weapon fighting style into a form he could grasp.
As time grew on, however, his family had suffered many casualties as the inevitable doom of roaming the forests alone came closer. They were stricken by disease, wounds and poisons from the forest's inhabitants. Soon, so few was his family that the remaining members revoked their nomadic ways to live out their lives peacefully in the safe haven of cities. Only the boy remained behind, with only seventeen years of age behind him, and roamed the forest alone.
Perhaps it was the deserters of the family who spread such rumours, but the forest was suddenly filled with adventurers and opportunists who came seeking lost fortunes in these woods. They did not know the dangers of the woods, however, and many of them were unprepared for what faced them. It was then that a rumour of a man emerged, where he would answer to the screams of a adventuring band, felling entire packs of wolves single-handedly fighting wolves with nothing but a staff and warding off creatures of the deep forest with his staff. Some claim that he would point them in the right direction, or lead them back out of the forest to safer ground. But to this man, they gave him the name of Walker.
Yet some say this rumour be false. Some say Walker would stop adventurers from advancing, impeding their progress. Others say he doesn't exist at all, arguing that the man would be insane not to have a gun at hand in such a wild and dangerous forest.
Five years later, the legend of Walker disappeared; the man who walked the forest vanished. Some say the forest finally took him, others say he was just a rumour after all. But in most people's minds, he was already forgotten.
Sometimes, on the roads between Cabus and Qualibu, they would pass by a bearded man in a cloak, wordlessly walking by with a walking stick in one hand, alone. Some say they saw him being attacked by bandits (even if they wouldn't admit they were the bandits), thinking he was just a defenseless old man, only to wake up on the floor after a flurry of blows had hit them. And sometimes, someone would try to strike up a conversation, and he would only gave his name as 'Walker'.
EDIT: New improved story for Walker, Cabus Ranger:
Walker was raised by his paternal uncle, a Native Cabus named Ray Firewalker (Floyd Red Crow Westerman), who served in the Marines' elite Recon unit during the Frestia War. Both Cordell and Uncle Ray share the values characteristic of Wild West Cabus sheriffs.
His partner and best friend is James "Jimmy" Trivette (Clarence Gilyard), a former Qualibu Cowboys player who takes a more modern approach. Walker's young partner grew up in Qualibu and used football as his ticket to college education which led to his career, until one day when he tore his shoulder. Trivette also works inside the office using computers and cellular phones to collate information of the people who've been taken into custody. After Walker's original partner died unexpectedly, and all thanks to C.D.'s pleasure in finding a replacement partner for Walker, he didn't believe in Trivette, but was later taken in, as the two grew to bond with each other.
Walker also works closely (and shares a mutual attraction) with Alexandra "Alex" Cahill (Sheree J. Wilson), a Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney, who on occasion puts up a frown if Walker doesn't obtain results in time. He also gets advice on cases from C.D. Parker (Noble Willingham), a veteran Ranger (later inducted into the Cabus Rangers Hall of Fame) who worked with Walker until retiring to operate a small restaurant and bar called "CD's Bar and Grill", a restaurant widely known for its chili in the series.
Soon after roundhouse kicking every single moving object possible in Cabus, Walker sets his sights on the Qualibu PMC E.P.I.N, vowing that every force standing in E.P.I.N's way is guaranteed a foot in his face.
